Comprehensive housing reform, in a multi-family building

100m2+40m2 terrace

For the rehabilitation project of this penthouse, located a few meters from the center of Valencia, we had the need to convert an old house, very compartmentalized, into a modern, spacious, bright home radically changing its initial appearance and its distribution of rooms. For this we needed to change absolutely everything to design a new interior suited to the needs of the current owners.

It was essential to eliminate all possible partitions to create open and communicated areas and re-locate the different rooms. On a large diaphanous space we draw the new distribution: a large living room with integrated kitchen occupies the main part of the house and in the back, much quieter, we locate the night area with two single bedrooms, a bathroom and open to the terrace we create a new bedroom with bathroom en suite.

We designed a space with minimalist lines and neutral colors, which combine Scandinavian design elements with very industrial touches. Wood and cement dominate an environment that conveys warmth and calm, thanks to the pure white chosen for the walls.

The large cabinet-shelving with niches, which we have expressly designed for this project, incorporates an indirect lighting that enhances the luminosity and amplitude of the corridor. The kitchen is completely integrated into the space while offering storage space at the same time. A contemporary design with an industrial aesthetic that combines perfectly with the concrete pillars.

The comfort that comes from the whole set comes from the vinyl flooring, a very warm material chosen for all rooms. To ensure good lighting, recessed plaster spotlights were installed throughout the space that are combined with decorative lighting points.

State previous to the reform.
