Select the best pavement for your home

When choosing the floor for our home, endless doubts come to our mind, either wood or ceramic? hydraulic floor tiles or stone? The goal must be looking for as much comfort as possible, making the most of a usually high investment. That is why, before choosing the right surface, you need to analyze your house features and how you plan to use it.
WHAT SHOULD WE KNOW?
In Acertus, we have a wide variety of options when choosing the best flooring for your home but, previous to that, we need to take several issues into account: style, budget available, original structure conditions where the new floor will be set, average temperature and humity and what kind of maintenance it will require.
SYNTHETIC LAMINATE FLOORING. A reliable choice.
It is not surprise that laminate floor has become increasingly popular, as they count with many advantages. One of them is they are cheap and provide warmth and beauty.
Made out of high-density compressed wood fibers, with an aditional layer of melanin resin at high pressure to harden it. It is finished with printed picturing simulating wood.
The joints are the weak spot of this kind of flooring, fixing them when it has been shattered by some hits or humity needs to be replaced as it cannot be either repaired or sanded. As this material is formed by thin layers, you cannot work on it by smoothing or varnishing although it is possible indeed to carry out some light filing.
You can check this in some of our latest projects as, for instance, this apartment in the neighbourhood of Arrancapins, in Valencia.
NATURAL LAMINATE FLOORING. Extra warmth.
It is complicated to find a material that can equal the wamth of natural wood, a kind, beautiful material, able to decorate spaces itself, where grains, knots and different colours can be appreciated.
Natural parquet needs special cares to avoid lines, stains and humity. On the other hand, it can be smoothed every five or ten years to remove flaws, so this floor lasts over generations if it is treated carefully. One of the preventive measure to keep in mind is that, after a long exposure time to natural light, parquet flooring can easily loose brightness and colour. That is why it is so important to smooth, sand and seal whenever it is needed.
This choice highlight in one of our projects at Joaquín Costa Street, natural wood parquet flooring by INTASA, with flawless finish.
VINYL PARQUET. Great resistance to humity.
One of latest possibilities recently incorporated and highly demanded due to endless advantages. They can look like real wood, due to its realistic details, warmth, smooth touch, durability and resistance to humity.
This vynil based floor offers great quality and stability for a quick and simple installation. Its covering is ideal for residential interior design, even for kitchens and bathrooms, due to its excellent resistance to humity.
Some disadvantage though is, given it is thin and flexible, it adjusts to the shape of previous floor. This makes important to check it usually, keeping the righ levelling with no flaws or cracks once it is installed.
You will be able to see some examples in forecoming projects we are working on.
PORCELAIN FLOORING. High resistance.
Today, porcelain ceramic is becoming a trend in interior design. Floors made out of compressed and boiled ceramic, with low porosity, increase resistance to humity conditions.
Although it is more complicated to install them, this floor is so resistant to any use, both for crossing and putting up with humity or dirt. This is a cold kind of flooring, so they are highly appreciated in hot environments. Another advantage is the wide variety of designs and textures you can find among them.
We have used this floor in some of our recent projects, always successfully. In this remodelling in La Torre, we chose porcelain simulating wood BENADRESA, getting a compact and attractive floor.
SIMULATING HYDRAULIC FLOOR TILE. An stylish choice.
Let’s take a look back to some years ago and our surroundings. Let’s get back to that essence. The ‘vintage era’ is a trend now again, it comes now with floos that pretend to be hydraulic in different colours and shapes.
This particular and lively proposal offers a high quality, typical of ceramic materials, being resistant to erosion, breakings and even humity. One of worst parts is its difficulty to be installed. In reward to this, its maintenance and cleaning are easy and excellent.
We have used this floor in some projects before, as this remodelling in Bétera, by VIVES.
MARBLE FLOORING. Durability and resistance.
Marble is a decorative and majestic material, with an special charm. It never goes out of fashion, on the contrary, a marble flooring always looks attractive and timeless.
All kind of stones guarantee durability and resistance to any condition. Marble is a metamorphic rock, with calcium carbonate as main component, so it is a natural stone that highlights indoors given its beauty. Some disadvantage though is its price and difficulty to install. As it has low resistance to abrasion, it can be easily scratched, so it needs constant maintenance.
Here you can see an example where we recovered and installed marble flooring in an attic in Nou Campanar neighbourhood.
