Kitchen and living room in the same space

KITCHEN AND LIVING IN THE SAME SPACE,
WISE MOVE!
We love those places where living room and kitchen share the same space, we can imagine idyllic family life in a chilling, bright and warm atmosphere, fancy it?
This is a usual doubt of our clients when we plan the a refurbishing: Office type kitchen or another single room for it? In Acertus we bet on the first option as long as the house features allow it, but it does not mean, completely united atmospheres.
Imagination is the clue when tracking shared spaces. An isle in a kitchen, carpets, pieces of furniture, additional items… Anything we can imagine plays the role of former traditional walls setting the line between kitchen and living room.
Come enjoy with us the different options to integrate these spaces taking a tour along some of our projects. Do not miss any detail!
OPEN SPACE CONCEPT
The open space concept has turned into one of most demanded projects for interior design. Today, it is common to find shared spaces, with a wide open room to the outside, (garden? terrace?) and great natural light or a kitchen-living-dining room, welcoming and aimed to prepare dinner while your guests share that moment with you. Doesn’t sound too bad, does it? The different areas in these sole unique open rooms are limited with original and creative solutions.
In this whole refurbishing of and attic in Nou Campanar, we chose to make kitchen living room one with the result of a wide restrained and warm designer place, that invites you to share the moment. If something makes us fall in love with this kind of solutions is exactly all the living chances this kind of space offers. We run away of closed kitchens where that who is cooking is kept away from the rest of the house. Sharing is living! By knocking down the separating wall among the kitchen and the dining room we create a wider space with natural light, open to the terrace.
WINNING ROOM AND LIGHT
Yes! Houses are getting smaller, so organising everything is more necessary. Words such as versatility and suitability are the must in the vocabulary of every interior designer and our kitckens offer true different options.
In this small apartment located in Alfafar, the starting point was finding the right style. A careful selection of details to make it a space with its own personality and create that connection between kitchen and living-dining room. A big daily area, of 30 m2 aprox., turned into a warm and sophisticated minimalist style space.
JOINING SPACES BY DEFINING DIFFERENT AREAS
The open concept is quite common in apartments such as loft style and houses with bigger rooms, which you love because of its spaciousness and light. But having an only room for living, dining room and kitchen doesn’t mean you can have one only atmosphere. That is, even if the house barely has any wall, it is advisable to clearly define these 3 areas with the right decoration.
In this project of refurbishing a former farmhouse of just 65 m2 you can see how we designed the kitchen that works as a connector of every room in the house, and it was promoted by using hydraulic pavement floor. On the other hand, we uses a large porcelain that looks like wood for ordinary pavement, which creates the visual unity that this place was needing.
THE COUNTER, A CLUE SEPARATING ITEM
Having a major open place gives you more possibilities to get more light. So we could have large windows to light up common rooms for the day. In this project we found a fantastic house in the city centre of Valencia. We chose to open a clear area to be the focus of the family activity, just to enjoy it. With no visual breaking, limiting the space with a beautiful hydraulic floor tyle. As highlighted item we create a tall table out of Silestone in white quartz that works as separating item. Therefore we can count with a wide clear and cheerful, where every metre matters!
What do you think of our different options? If you have any doubt, or are thinking of starting a whole furbishing project for your home, you can count on us! We will be more than happy to help you.
