How to keep your house cool during the summer

In recent years, there have been installed in our country so many air conditioning units, that the peaks of electricity consumption in summer and surpass those of the winter.
Ventilate your Home
Up to 30% of the heat comes from the windows. Ventilate the house and make the air move is one of the best strategies to fight the heat. But we must do it in the coolest hours of the day, that is, in the early morning and at night. It is also important to leave the doors open between the rooms so that the heat does not accumulate in them.
Lower the Blinds
The secret of keeping a cool house without air conditioning is precisely to create an optimal shade environment inside the house, and precisely, the blinds and curtains allow to shade our house and thus block the heat of the sun.
It is useless to ventilate and refresh our house by taking advantage of the draughts if we then let the solar radiation enter through the windows and reheat the house. For this it is best to close the windows and lower the shutters during the day. This will reduce the indoor temperature by about 6 º C and save up to 7% on light bills.
Deploying the awnings has a similar effect to lowering the shutters, it will avoid the entrance of solar radiation in our house and the overheating of windows and facades. It is essential to place horizontal awnings in the south orientation and vertical awnings in the east and West directions.
Keep the doors closed
In this way, closing the rooms that are not used or those that receive direct impact from the sun will prevent the heat from being distributed by the house. However, during the night, it creates currents cross-ventilation and lets the air circulate.
Take advantage to paint your home
Works! Soft colors. The houses that have the exterior facades of light colors help the temperature in the interior to reduce a few degrees as these shades reflect more sunlight than the darker colors.
In the case of interiors, painting the walls of light shades will also bring freshness. But there is no need to resort to the whites of all life. Today you will find in the market a myriad of varieties of white, in colder shades (with shades of gray, blue or green) or warmer (yellow, orange or red), that will help you to improve the thermal sensation.
Make sure you have a good isolation

Limits Heat sources
Turn off the appliances you are not using (remember not to leave them in stand-by), as they are an unnecessary heat source, as well as an energy expense. A computer can reach up to 60 º C, so try to turn off the electrical appliances that generate heat.
Dress up your summer house
Colors and fabrics absorb heat, so playing with them will reduce the feeling of embarrassment. Light colors absorb less temperature and create a feeling of lightness and freshness. For this reason, using these shades in bedspreads, sheets and curtains helps to create a more pleasant atmosphere.
